house of good works
Government shelters (as homeless shelters are called in America) only provide a place to sleep and food, while our task is to help people change their lives so that they give up their addiction to alcohol or drugs and return to a fulfilling social life.

Renewing our workshop!
IF OUR SHELTER DID NOT EXIST...
It is no exaggeration to say that the Workhouse is needed to save people from dying horribly on the streets.
This link shows a scary video: we found a homeless man whom we knew, dead, his body devoured by rats. Dima, that was his name, refused to accept help, although our volunteers tried repeatedly to motivate him during feedings. We opened the Workhouse to those who accepted our offer of help.
Where does rehabilitation begin
The prerequisite for admission to the House of Good Works is the mandatory treatment for addiction at a hospital in New York, after which we provide a place. Even after entering the House, our clients have to attend rehabilitation programs like the AA meetings for a while. They must continually prove their motivation to change their lives.

It is also mandatory to do creative work - keeping things in order, repairs and so on.
Welcome!
It just so happens that Russian is spoken here. However, at the House of Good Works they can speak English without any problem and among our volunteers, there are those who are fluent in Spanish. There is no problem for us to accept a person of any nationality.

Of course, there are no religious restrictions either - we welcome everyone, and if someone shows an interest in Christianity, we are ready to help introduce them to the rich Christian tradition of the Orthodox Church.
our shelter - for men only?

We are ready to expand: we want to open a similar rehabilitation centre for women (sometimes we provide women with targeted assistance with housing) and a second Labour House for men - in the countryside - a kind of farm for our brothers, and so we ask for your support: donate to our common cause right now.
